How to care for someone.

If you care about someone, let them know. Prove it to them. Put your phone down and listen to them when they rant. Listen to their silence, be that person they run to when they’re sad. Give them quality of time and connect with them.

If you really care about someone, make them your priority. Make them your priority not only when it’s easy but also when it’s difficult. Make frequent calls to check on them. Meet them when they least deserve it, that’s when they need you the most. Just be there for them, not because you have to but because you want to.

If you really care about someone, accept them for who they are. Don’t ask them to be a better person for you. Protect them and make them feel loved. Always remind them that they’re your favourite person and please don’t just do this with words.

If you really care about someone, just be good to them. Don’t be selfish and don’t take matters in your hand when you’ve nothing to give in return. Don’t just take and take from them and leave them empty. Fill them with everything you have. Give them the best of you.

Please, if you really care about someone, if you truly care, stand up for that. Be honest with them. Choose them everyday and if you can’t, or if things change, let them go. Let them go because they won’t be able to walk away and even if they try it will eat them up slowly. Afterall, that’s a fatal flaw in people who love with everything they have. Don’t keep someone around you only to love them in halves. Don’t ever think you care for someone when you’re not there for them at their lowest. Don’t ever think you love someone because you’ve been with them for years. They deserve all the love in the world and if you can’t give it to them, set them free.
